Design and Construction Principles
VerdeCapitalResources, LLC, facilitates health care and education leaders in securing financing for humanitarian and socially responsible projects. Buildings must be designed, constructed and operated to:
- Meet platinum LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification or equivalency standards (energy efficiency, water efficiency, resource efficiency, responsible site management, and improved indoor air quality).
- Be as low maintenance as practically possible to minimize end-user costs.
- Withstand regional threats of flood, wind, rain and other natural disaster-related damages.
- Use passive heating and cooling strategies, including cross ventilation; radiant barriers in the roof; day-lighting and shading; energy-efficient appliances, lighting and equipment; and windows that meet the highest energy efficiency and disaster resistance standards.
- Have flexible interior designs allowing the interior to be easily reconfigured for multiple uses over time, as needed.
- Create a sense of place, connecting people with nature.
- Restrict to the fullest extent possible, the use of harmful off-gassing materials and other toxic products.
- Have a useful life of greater than 100 years.
The project’s architects and builders must have substantial successful experience in designing and constructing LEED-certified facilities.
